Have you ever heard the pharse that “It’s easier to attract folks with honey than vinegar?”  The saying is referring to the attitude that you use when dealing with people.  In other words, do you approach people with kindness, a smile, freindly words, supportive attitude?  Or do you tend to be judgemental, have preconceived notions, negativity, or doubt?

I was doing a little maintenance on the site today, and noticed the verse of the day.  It was really appropriate given the news of day, that is the news of 2008 now leaking into 2009!

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)

Without a doubt, as soon as you read this, I am positive you can identify with the scripture!

I remember years ago when Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker were dethroned as the evangelists of all evangelists; leaders of the PTL club.  Why?  Jim was caught in a torrid sex affair, later revelations about accounting fraud brought him prision and an end to his marriage.  There were a lot of people that celebrated Jim’s fall.  As sad as it was.  There was another evangelist at the time that made the sex scandal public knowledge - Jimmy Swaggart.

Boy, I turn on the news today, and all I hear is how food prices are going up, gas prices are out of control, truck drivers are striking to see if they can make the government solve the fuel price problem, and on and on… It’s almost depressing, but if you have received the message that God has sent, if you have hope for the new day that is coming, then you know these are all just events pointing in one direction!

I couldn’t believe this story about a senior at a High School in Madison, WI, was given a zero ‘0′ grade for an art project that reflected a religious symbol.  I guess what got me the most was the extent to which the school leadership took at making sure they made an example of this student.   The bigger problem I see is, we are no longer a free nation, no longer a Christian nation, but rather a nation that bows to the principles of other beliefs at the cost of our own.
